Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform has accentuate the need for transforming Pakistan from agriculture base to technology driven knowledge based economy to compete at the international level.

Khusro Bakhtiar talking to the former Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman and Federal Minister For Science & Technology and emphasized on Knowledge based economy that provides the foundation of sustainable socio-economic development.

Khusro Bakhtiar stressed upon promotion of science and technology that can endow with innovative and creative solutions for progress and advancement of society.

The economic development of a Country does not depend exclusively on natural resources but also on intellectual capital, quality human resource, development of industry and significance added production.

The planning and development minister distinguished that in today’s world knowledge is now the major pouring strength at the back of leading economies adding that knowledge contributes appreciably to profitable economic growth.

Focusing on high-tech advancements and exports will not only boost the national economy but also afford golden opportunity to incarcerate its due share in the global market.

Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman conversant that a national task force on ‘Technology driven knowledge economy is being set up under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan of which he will be the Vice Chairman. The task force will encompass all key stakeholders to move towards a knowledge based economy.

The proposed task force will cover various sectors, wherein prominence will be laid on endorsement of technology and knowledge to accomplish maximum allowance including agriculture, energy, water resources and IT sector.
