STAFF REPORT LHR: Comprehensive planning for technical and vocational education is the need of the hour in the local language in order to achieve eight per cent annual growth rate for the economic betterment of the country.

These views were expressed by the experts in the Jang Economic Session on Does vocational education can resolve social and economic problems recently held in Lahore.

The panelists included Chairman TEVTA Irfan Qaiser, MD PVTC Sajid Naseer, Agha Saidien, Chaudhry Abdul Khalique, Manzoor Malik and Farooq Tariq, Sikindar Lodhi hosted the session.

Irfan Qaiser said that the revolutionary measures are required in both conventional educations as well as non conventional so that youth will get jobs easily. He believed that if Pakistan able to meet the Middle East labour demand by amending its education and labour trainings structure then fruitful results could be achieved.

Sajid Naseer said the two-thirds of Pakistans population comprises of 15 to 20 years age youth which is an asset, but if they could not be utilized properly then law and order situation would further worsen.

He said Pakistan has more than 100 million cellular connections but 80 per cent children do not attend schools. He said out of 30 million youth only half are getting education while the remaining half are working.
