STAFF REPORT ISB: Minister of State for IT Anusha Rahman has said the Telecom Foundation should concentrate on new avenues to enhance the volume of its business activities.

She said this while chairing a performance evaluation meeting of the Telecom Foundation and Pak Datacom in Islamabad.

Federal Secretary IT Azmat Ali Rangha, Managing Director Telecom Foundation (TF) Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Khalid Rao, Chief Executive Pak Datacom Arshad Kiyani, Member (Telecom) Mudasar Hussain and other senior officials from TF and IT ministry were present in the meeting.

Rao apprised the minister of the new initiatives being taken by the Telecom Foundation, including subsidised education to the children of serving and retired employees of telecom sector in 12 TF schools all over the country and educational and vocational technical trainings through TF Institute of Technology and Management.

The institute offers three-year diplomas in the fields of civil, electronic and telecom engineering.

The minister directed the TF authorities to have a close liaison with the telecom service providers working in Pakistan and improve the curriculum of vocational training diplomas in accordance with the requirement of the market.The minister said the volume of welfare activities of TF should also be enhanced as it is a charitable organisation and welfare activities are amongst its core objectives.
