‘The Mix’ Technology festival concluded
Pakistan Information Technology Board (PITB) entrepreneurship wing has organized international IT conference and festival organized successfully concluded after 2 days at the Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium.
The session titled as “Museums Today” on which speakers like Dr. Yaqoob Bangesh, Dr. Muhsin Ali, Sadaf Chauhan and Nadhra Khan spoke. Nadhra Khan said that there is a dire need to shift from passive to an active audience of Museums. In order to capture interest of audience, they need to narrate a story, that can make them more relevant.
Dr. Muhsin Ali said, “Google’s Art and Culture app actively involves people making art approachable.”
Khurrum Samad said on gaming that Games are important. The impact of gaming is immense that they will help people to build mixt synchronization.” Zaair Hussain stated that gaming was a practical career choice 5 years ago and has fully-fledged more since then.
Salima Hashmi talked on “Lahore, The Beloved City”. People from all walks of life have attended the event.
Aqsa Tariq, Ali Ahsan, Fasi Zaka, Humayun Haroon and Anis Sheikh were panelists for a session titled “Digital Dialogue”.
Fasi Zaka said that Technology can change media and journalism. Our people like digital media, but that doesn’t essentially mean are digitally literate.”
Humayun Haroon said that new generation has no time to sit in front of the TV at 8 pm or 9 pm, so they are choosing colorful digital platforms while talking about the changing trends in the media.
design thinking was a process of solving problems and they were just human ways of coming up with a solution said owner of startup Nina Ho at a session titled “Design Disruption.
Panelist Abdullah Haris said that “emotional response is a core component of design experience”.
A session on tech moderated by Nabeel Qadir while foreign speakers also expressed their views. Chris Sheetz, Jonas Exchhorst, Mons Rahman, Dr. Umar Saif, Abdul Rahman Talat and Khurram Zafar also spoke on occasion.
PITB Chairman Dr. Umar Saif said that we got full support from the American Consul General in Lahore. We are certain that American companies coming to Pakistan will start tech initiatives too.
“The concept of startups can turn your idea into reality has finally gained acceptance and momentum,” Dr. Saif said.
“In Pakistan, raw data is brilliant but lacks is the funding – the right amount of dollars matching the ideas,” said Jonas Eichhorst while talking differences between Vietnam and Pakistan. As part of Plan9’s ATX-PAK programme, a delegation from Austin, Texas, also joined the event.
