The establishment of National center for cyber security, big data & cloud computing and Robotics & Automation was approved by the government planning commission of Pakistan.

The establishing of National Centers in state-of-the-art technology domains approval was in the pipeline for some time now. The Planning Commission of Pakistan, while in a Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meet, has finally given the green signal for the establishment of 3 National Centers of Cyber Security, Big Data, and Cloud Computing, and Robotics and Automation, informed Athar Osama, the ICT member at the Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan.

Proposed site for establishing the three National Centers are the well knows universities of Pakistan. The National Center of Cyber Security will be established at Air University Islamabad the National Center of Big Data and Cloud Computing at LUMS Lahore and the National Center of Robotics and Automation will be established at the NUST College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Rawalpindi.

According to the report, these three National Centers along with the already operational National Center of Artificial Intelligence will engage more than 200 competent faculty members along with the several other professionals and students. The purpose of establishing the National centers is to carry out extensive researches in these cutting-edge fields and to help Pakistan make a notable standing in these sphere.

The establishment of National Centers in the advanced technology fields is a part of the Ministry of Planning and Development’s vision of 2025. Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister of Planning, Development & Reforms, has already inaugurated the National Center for Artificial Intelligence at National University of Science and Technology Islamabad.
