A two-day Eco summit 2019 on the environment initiate at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) to to tackle the rising pollution and global warming challenges for the sustainable environment.

The ultimate aim is to bring academia industry and government at one platform for introducing ground-breaking green technologies and finding home-grown solutions for the sustainable environment.

The summit is organized by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) UET, Peshawar, in collaboration with National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), British Council and other organizations.

UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar chaired the summit as a chief guest. He said climate change was showing a momentous impact globally on people’s livelihood and the ecosystems.

“The rapid change in climate has also put serious challenges to the national development of Pakistan,” he said and urged the government, industry academia and civil society to come to an amalgamated medium and elevate the extent of awareness on the climate sensitization.

Regional head of the NVBP (North), Saima Raheem ensured that all support to the UET Peshawar for introducing environment-related initiatives. She said the NBP also planted 200,000 plants under the “Clean and Green Pakistan drive.”

Clean and Green Pakistan drive makes sure to tackle the challenges of climate change and negative impacts on agro-economy with a resolve to create an eco-friendly Pakistan.
