STAFF REPORT FAISLABAD: The soil test-based fertilizer prediction model is developed jointly by University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Agriculture Department in order to help farmers to determine the level of nitrogen and phosphorous for optimum yield. Talking to a media briefing, Vice Chancellor UAF, Iqrar Ahmad Khan said, “The project was possible due to untiring efforts of researchers and scientists from both the partner organizations and technical support of USAID and International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA). The web based solutions for site specific issues and advanced cost effective crop production technology for farmers are universities top most prioritize which will help farmers to maximize the crop production by utilizing the resources in most apt manner”.


“Farmers could invest in these solutions according to their financial tendency and earn up to Rs100, 000 per acre from arable crops and up to Rs 400,000 per acre from high-value farming”, he added.


Dr Muhammad Rashid is said to be the principal investigator of the project who apprised that university had developed web based solutions for farmers in different cities including Faisalabad, Jhang, Multan, Layyah, and Okara and details can be accessed on website www.kissandost.pk.The farmers can also call at university`s toll free number 0800-54726 for further assistance.
