Sahiwal police’s regional training center established e-Learning syllabuses from UNODC to develop main policing and law enforcement skills of officers as per international standards.

In order to deliver on-job training and various capacity building programmes to police officers this Sahiwal regional training center was established in April 2017, association with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC. Punjab Police to address the training needs of Sahiwal Regional Police in specialized areas such as Drugs related crimes, human trafficking & migrants smuggling, awareness and preservation of digital evidence, crime scene investigation and criminal intelligence have established an e-Learning center.

Newly established e-Learning center at the Sahiwal Regional Training Center Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sahiwal, inaugurated by Muhammad Tariq Chohan, along with UNODC Country Representative Pakistan Mr. Cesar Guedes. Criminal Justice Programme Adviser UNODC Ms. Jouhaida Hanano and other programme staff of UNODC were have attended the occasion. UNODC with support from its international partners assisted the Government of Pakistan in implementing its policy priorities in the areas of criminal justice system, drug control and border management, drug demand reduction and controlling HIV/AIDS according to UNODC’s Pakistan Country Programme initiative.

 

RPO Sahiwal Muhammad Tariq Chohan expressed gratefulness and indebtedness to UNODC Pakistan in the best interests of Punjab Police Department, for assistance HR building and working capacities of Sahiwal Regional Police. Chohan said that the Punjab Police had developed additional training institutions at regional level for training needs of field and operational force of the Police as first responders to crimes. Chohan further added that essential training facilities, using modern tools and methods for on-job training of police officers in specialized crime’ areas are available Sahiwal Regional Training Center.

UNODC representative Pakistan Mr. Cesar Guedes admired Punjab police for increasing competency, professionalism, and field effective force from resourcing training institutions. Do not forget the scarifies of Pakistani law enforcement agencies to shield lives and rights of citizens, in order to make harder response against crimes and terrorism.

UNODC within various law enforcement agencies in Pakistan has established 55 e-Learning centers, it is the 9th e-Learning center established at Sahiwal Regional Training Centre. Mr. Cesar Guedes said that eLearning Programme with overwhelming achievement of over 50,000 personnel countries wide of Pakistani law enforcement agencies that have completed over 270,000 hours of both foundational and specialized level of training programmes.

Mr. Guedes also accredited UNODC’s international partners, Government of Denmark, for courteous support Pakistan’s Country Programme II (2016-19), where Sahiwal Regional Training center also had gotten eLearning courses and equipment.
