US Embassy Islamabad and Islamabad Club officials signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to extend support of the Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Reading Room, a partnership for promotion of English language learning.

MLK rooms were first established in 2009. These MLK rooms were designed to offer free access to English books, magazines, videos, as well as databases and scholarly journals for research according to the US Embassy press release

Christina Tomlinson, U.S. Embassy Minister Counselor for Public Affairs, and Muhammad Mobeen, Islamabad Club Assistant Secretary, participated in the ceremony to extend partnership by July 2020 at the Islamabad Club.

MLK rooms were modified June 2015 and offer monthly programs for the members and guests of the Islamabad club. They offer them services related to English language learning; science and technology; entrepreneurship, and counseling for higher education in the United States.

The most popular among visitors is MLK reading room book and writing clubs. This corner has organized many programs English language learning; science and technology; entrepreneurship, and counseling for higher education in the United States to aware people.

These MLK Reading Room are one of the total 19 Lincoln Corners across the country supported by US Embassy. Lincoln Corner in partnership with institutions of Pakistan public libraries, universities, and cultural centers as a resource center that provided a platform and material to have an open dialogue between Americans and Pakistani.
