uvas hec exhibitionSTAFF REPORT IBD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has recently arranged an exhibition during its national seminar on Future of Research in Pakistan in Islamabad. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore has showcased his research on “Improving the reproductive efficiency of dairy cows and buffaloes”.
The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) project was one of the 10 nationwide projects selected for presentation at the exhibition. Prof. Dr Nasim is the Principal Investigator of the Pak-US HEC funded research project and he is assisted by Research Associates Dr Ali Husnain and Dr Umair Riaz.
About the project results, Prof. Nasim said that slow reproduction in our dairy animals can be improved especially in buffaloes through using different synchronization protocols, reproductive ultrasonography and fixed time insemination.
He said that all the activities of his research project have been carried out at public and private dairy farms.
The impact of the project is evidenced by the fact that commercial farmers have adopted improved reproductive management system very well and new farmers are following this at their own cost.
