Workshop highlights snags of climate change

Staff Report KHI: A training workshop focusing on “Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation” was jointly organized by World Wide Fund Pakistan (WWF-Pak) with Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and Friends of Indus Forum (FIF). It was part of the WWF-Pak capacity building programme on Climate Change Adaptation in Coastal Areas of Pakistan which focusses on improvement of climate resilience of Indus Delta ecosystem processes on which coastal communities depend, supported by regional and transboundary cooperation on adaptation in river deltas.
Naeem Ahmed Mughal, Director General, SEPA while speaking to the participants said that climate change impacts were continuously imparting unfavorable traces on various sectors including agriculture, livestock, and fisheries.
Nasir Ali Panhwar, General Secretary FIF spoke in the workshop, “Sindh is greatly vulnerable to climate change and Sindh Government must prioritize to integrate climate change with the overall development policies to minimize its impacts and increase our preparedness.”
The participants from different NGOs, public and private sector organizations were present in the workshop.
