Pakistan will approach supreme water scarcity by 2025. In 1990, Pakistan touched the ‘water stress line’ and crossed the ‘water scarcity line’ in 2005. If substantial steps were not taken to address the issue, then the chances are very high that the country will face acute water crisis in the upcoming years.

Experts warns of worst water crisis by 2025

The negotiation over water crisis and climate change arranged by the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad come out that climate change had emerged the biggest challenge than terrorism as it was playing disaster with the lives of billions of people.

The heavy crowded countries were facing the worst climate change effects. Every person had to plant a tree to save the world from the destruction of climate changes. Trees were essential part of healthy environment for a better life. There’s a need of time to turn the areas especially at the banks of canal lush green.

Whereas, water shortage reaches 1,000 cubic meter level. At the origin of the country, per capita water availability was more than 5,000 cubic meters which had now declined to less than 1,000 cubic meter. The water crisis issue must be importunate at the national and international level.

The quality of groundwater water was failing with each passing month due to heavy pumping, and industrial waste matter, causing eruption of various diseases in the country.

The government needs to take all possible steps to come out with inferior water crisis. The Clean and Green Pakistan project under which 10 billion saplings would be planted for making environment clean and beautified had initiated by the government to save the environment from disasters.

Eco-friendly environment recently faced severe smog. So, the government had closed brick kilns for almost 70 days to control smog. A strict action was being taken against the factories emitting pollution; they started a crackdown on wastage of hospitals as it caused serious health hazards.

Water is a key to life and essential for irrigation, food security, economic growth, energy production, industries and human health. Water was being pumped out from tube-wells that were responsible for lowering down the groundwater level.
