STAFF REPORT ISB: Faculty of Management Sciences of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) has organised an Environment Day to create awareness among the students about the importance of green environment and climate change.


NUML Rector Maj Gen ZiaUd Din Najam while addressing the inauguration ceremony as a chief guest said that pollution has become world phenomena but situation in developing countries like Pakistan is the worst.


He said, “We have to educate our young generation about the benefits of environment to secure the future as warming has become a global threat.”


The rector said that for the last few years, earthquakes and floods had become a routine in Pakistan and the deforestation is the major cause of such natural calamities. No planning had been made for tree plantation and if the situation prevails in the country would have to suffer more disasters in future, he added.


ZiaUd Din Najam said that Pakistan is among the countries, which are likely to face water shortage in coming years and it is the time to aware our youth about the importance of water.


He said, “We together as a nation can defeat any threat but we have to educate our society first and students can play their key role in this regard.” Later, the NUML rector inaugurated the ceremony by planted a sapling in university premises. He also visited different stalls where students had displayed different items regarding green atmosphere.
